Nice To Meet You Mr. Wolf 1
Long, fluffy, blonde hair swayed on her back as she walked through the castle corridor. Due to the foreign blood within her veins, her height was 10 centimeters shorter than average and she had grey eyes, a rarity within this country.
Because of these traits, she wasn't liked that much in the castle.
Although nobody said it directly, Aria, the king's youngest daughter, knows at least that much because she's observed it for a long time. She thought the ancestors' teachings were very accurate: The eyes do say more than the mouth does.
"I don't like it at all!"
As soon as she entered her father's study, she heard her sister―Aria shrugged her shoulders at the sound of Lilianne's voice. Oban, her father, noticed the opened door and beckoned towards her, so she proceeded forward.
"Good morning, Father. I heard you called me..."
"Aria. How old are you this year?"
"How old? I turned fifteen last month."
"That's true..."
Seeing Oban's mouth mumbling, Lilianne clears her throat without hiding her irritation.
"Dad! Hurry up, get to the main point!"
"Don't rush, I know... Aria, have you heard tell of the friendly alliance with the neighboring country?"
"Yes. I've been keeping up with it for a long time. Isn't it a country with races similar to werewolves? They're a beast-like people."
"Ah. That's correct.. Aria, It's bad because it’s sudden, but would you perhaps like to marry their second prince?"
"Me? But..."
She looked at Lilianne's crossed arms. The older sister, who's more than 10 centimeters taller than Aria, stared at Aria with a content expression and snorted.
"No... Are you sure you want me to do it?"
━ She stared at Oban and asked. Lilianne was the one who was supposed to form a friendship alliance with our neighbor and marry him. Because it should've been the most reasonable option.
"I don't know about your opinion, but if Lilianne doesn't like it, she'll cause trouble.
"Don't say that! I didn't hate my other sisters who slyly got married, escaping early on!"
“It’s an important marriage. A small country like ours can’t do without it.”
"Anyway! I still hate the idea of marrying a beast! If you want me to marry, bring me a better partner!"
"...Aria, you're the only option left. I'm sorry, but could you marry him in place of Lilianne?"
Aria thought a little, and then nodded. Her father was one of the few people who was on her side in the castle, in which, she was often treated differently. She can't refuse when her father is in trouble like this. In addition…….
"Being a werewolf, I wonder if he's fluffy and soft, right?"
"Yeah?"
Aria asked the question with bright eyes. She likes animals, especially the fluffy creatures. She's never seen a wolf, but she heard that it's a creature that looks a lot like a dog. Her hope is that it's a large dog with long hair. The Golden Retriever is good, but it would be even better if it was fluffy like a Samoyed, who was accompanied by a messenger from a distant country. Dreaming of an unseen future husband, Aria defies her face.
"...No, it's kind of solid---"
"Dad! Don't say anything unnecessary if Aria's interested in that!"
"Huh!?"
Lilianne's slap makes his voice sound defeated.
"Yeah, Aria. The prince over there is extremely fluffy, and it looks like he's got a big coat of fur!"
“Will I have to groom him when we get married?”
"You're going to be a couple. You're supposed to do that!"
Aria imagines herself brushing a large dog with a fluffy coat. Due to the influence of having a dog when she was young, Aria is definitely a dog lover.
"...Okay, Dad. I'll marry into the neighboring country."
"Is it really alright?"
"Yes! I will fully enjoy my fluffy newlywed life!"
"Oh, but no, he's actually rather solid hu-- !?"
"Well said, Aria! Enjoy your honeymoon as much as possible!"
"Thank you.. Ah? Isn't Dad bent in a strange direction?"
"It's fine, our father is very sturdy. Moreover, if your getting married in a neighboring country, isn’t there plenty to prepare? I'll also lend you my seamstress, so let's talk about your wedding dress.”
Lilianne tugged her arm and pulled her out of the room. She was worried about Oban, who looked strange, but like Lilianne said, their father was quite tough during his prime; she's sure his face will be bright and cheerful tomorrow. If you turned your head towards the closing door, you could see Lilianne's back as she walked, pulling Aria along with her.
"Aria, I'll tell you about some good things."
"Some good things?"
"The people---wolves thrive only once a month."
Her head tilts, wondering what her sister meant, but Lilianne didn't wait for Aria to understand. It doesn't matter if Aria's legs get tangled up, the talk continues on and on, as they walk down the corridor.
"So, if you can put up with it only once a month, you'll be fine on other days."
"But-"
"Okay, if you don't resist you won't be injured. All you have to do, is just let yourself be eaten quickly."
She held her breath for a moment at the sound of those terrifying words. After a while, she'd realized that she made a terrible decision.
"The werewolves... eat people?"
"What? What are you even saying?"
Lilianne turned around with a suspicious look, sneering a little when she noticed Aria’s face turning pale. For a long time, Lilianne has always found it funny when Aria was troubled and frightened. It hasn't changed since they grew up.
"Yes. It's a marriage "custom" over there. Otherwise, it's not considered a marriage."
"Such a thing..."
"But, that's right. Maybe the prince won’t lift his finger against a Chinchikurin [2] like you."
"Do you mean he won't eat me?"
"Maybe. But, that would be bad; After all, this is a marriage between two countries. If he doesn't feel like eating you, you'll just have to go and eat yourself."
"But.. that's scary."
"It's okay. If you put up with it for a little bit, it'll end quickly."
"Really? Wouldn't it hurt?"
"Of course It's going to be painful, he's a beast after all.”
"I don't want to hurt. Let’s consult father once again...!?"
That powerful hand gripped her arm tightly, and she held my breath again due to the pain.
Tl: Hoooo!!! another project!!! I hope you will also like this one since it’s super duper cute~ as I’m translating this chapter, I haven’t actually read the entire story so I’m as clueless as you guys (unless I stockpile chaps in which I haven’t yet) I also hope you support this project~
ps. A very kind soul commented the chapter above as an edit to my (very) sloppy translation. Thank you so much!!!
[1] Sigh. This sentence was hella confusing. No matter what mtl I use they basically say the same weird thing so I changed it according to context. This was the sentence: 「あ、うーんいや、だからどちらかというとがっちりムキム――へぶっ!?」
[2] this is apparently okonomiyaki (?) I think she’s saying that Aria is like okonomiyaki.
